This apple crisp is perfect for Thanksgiving dessert or for breakfast with a cup of coffee.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) melted butter
  • 2 cups quick oatmeal
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1½ teaspoons nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 12 cups of sliced pared apples (McIntosh, Golden Delicious, Jonathan, Honeycrisp, etc.)
  • 3 tablespoons butter, cut into small cubes
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400*.
  2. Grease a 9×13 pan generously.
  3. Mix together melted butter, oatmeal, flour, and brown sugar.
  4. Pat ½ of the mixture down on the greased pan.
  5. Stir together the sugar, flour, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  6. Mix well with the apples, trying not to snack on too many of them ;)
  7. Pour the apples into the crust.
  8. Crumble remaining flour and oatmeal mixture over the apples and pat down gently.
  9. Lightly cover the apple crisp with foil to prevent excessive browning. Place the pan on a cookie sheet while baking to catch any drips.
  10. Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until the apples start to bubble and the oatmeal crumble starts to turn golden brown.
Notes
One pound of apples equals 3 medium apples or 3 cups sliced apples.
